Although Bruce Wayne's new crime-fighting suit has already drawn snickers from some Gotham viewers, it's definitely practical -- if not exactly iconic -- as this new promo explains.

In a preview of this week's episode, "The Fear Reaper," Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) points out some of the costume's features of Bruce (David Mazouz) and Alfred (Sean Pertwee). "The whole uniform is extremely lightweight," he says, "and, actually, bullet-proof."

"I feel safer already," a glowing Bruce says. That feeling is unlikely to last, though, because as the young masked vigilante ratchets up his fight against street criminals, Jonathan Crane is on the loose as the Scarecrow.

Under pressure to prove that the GCPD is still powerful, Gordon attempts to bring in Jonathan Crane. However, Gordon puts himself in a dangerous situation at Arkham when he is forced to fight off lunatics and the demon within himself. Meanwhile, with Barbara's unexpected return, Selina and Tabitha must consider risks that come with joining her in the weapon business.

Airing Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Cameron Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth.
