The latest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is set to reunite its main cast for what will be the fourth-longest film in the MCU to date, tied only with 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. Director James Gunn previously promised fans "Not a second is wasted. There's no fat." Gunn added, "It was necessary to experience the full arc for every major Guardians character, not only for this film, but for the trilogy (or, I should say, trilogy plus)."
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will also mark Gunn's exit from the franchise as he steps in to helm the next generation of DC projects alongside fellow DC Studios co-chairman Peter Safran. Similarly, Dave Bautista will be leaving Drax behind with the latest Guardians of the Galaxy. Bautista confirmed he had zero intentions of returning to the character at any point in the future, saying, "It's hard, but it's time, and it's the perfect exit."
Apart from the new trailer, Dungeons & Dragons fans can catch another glimpse of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the form of Bradley Cooper as Marlamin, a halfling character who was once married to Michelle Rodriguez's Holga the Barbarian. On Cooper's casting, Rodriguez noted, "It was originally another actor [in that scene]. They added [Cooper] after the fact and then told me about it. I was like, 'What?'" She added, "I like him in real life: I think he's a cool dude."
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opens in theaters on May 5. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is in theaters now.
