The following contains spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, in cinemas now.

A new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 behind-the-scenes video just dropped that spotlights the creepy "Theel Sled" ridden by Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster.

The video comes via Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 writer-director James Gunn's Instagram account. It offers fans a close-up look at the sled-like prop, which is modeled on the likeness of Nico Santos' Recorder Theel. Pratt is perched atop the Theel Sled in the video and cheerfully introduces Gunn (who is documenting proceedings) to "[his] friend Nico." "This is sick," Gunn laughs, before starting to ready the crew to shoot the Theel Sled scene.

Star-Lord uses Theel as a makeshift vehicle during his escape from the High Evolutionary's (Chukwudi Iwuji) base on Counter-Earth. Unsurprisingly, Theel doesn't survive the experience -- and he's not the only recorder to die in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Theel's colleague Recorder Vim (Miriam Shor) also dies before the credits roll, after an ill-fated attempt to rebel against her master. The High Evolutionary himself makes it out of the movie alive, though, and Gunn has since confirmed that the deranged geneticist is currently imprisoned at the Guardians' headquarters, Knowhere.

Gunn also recently weighed in on the fates of two other Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 characters, Star-Lord and Gamora (Zoe Saldaña). Responding to a fan on Twitter, the filmmaker insisted that the MCU epic's ending was meant to imply that Star-Lord and Gamora wouldn't end up together, despite many viewers assuming the pair would one day rekindle their romance. Gunn also made it clear that Stakar Ogord's (Sylvester Stallone) Ravagers (and not the Guardians) are Gamora's "real family" now, as suggested by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's epilogue.

How Star-Lord moves on from Gamora remains unclear for now, however, one thing's for sure: fans will get to see it happen. While the spacefaring superhero steps down from the Guardians late in proceedings, an on-screen message displayed after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's post-credits scenes confirms that Peter Quill will be back for more adventures soon. Pratt discussed Star-Lord's future in a recent interview, insisting that any projects featuring the character will "honor" his collaborations with Gunn, who exited the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise following the third installment's release.
