No one on the streets of "Gotham" has dresses up in a wild and wooly costume yet, but the first taste of classic capes and tights style are in the offing for the Fox drama next week.

The network today released a new slate of photos from next week's episode titled "Red Hood." While the name will set off bells to any comic reader as the pre-disfigurment guise of the Joker, the story focuses on Gordon and Bullock's investigation into a bank robbery ring carrying the same name. This is doubtlessly inspired by a similar recent turn in DC Comics ongoing "Batman" title during Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's "Zero Year" arc.

During its initial episodes, "Gotham" would occasionally drop side characters with ties to comedy into the mix to tease potential Jokers, but the show has since dropped the gimmick. However, show runner and executive producer Bruno Heller recently revealed to CBR News why a Red Hood appearance would pick up that slack.

"Especially now that we have a pick up, I always take a long-term view of a show," he said. "I'm looking at several years. So we're in no hurry to [do that] -- there's going to be an episode that involves the Red Hood, which picks up that strand, the costume strand, and sort of gives a kind of philosophical base, if that's not too pretentious a word. Why costumes? What's the power of costumes? What's the power of a mask? All of that groundwork will be laid sort of culturally for that side of the DC Universe before we start rolling into the more spectacular spandex type of deal."
