Amazon Prime released a new teaser for its upcoming show Good Omens. Based on the book by Neil Gaiman, Good Omens tells the story of an angel and a demon both preparing for the inevitable end days and the rise of the antichrist. Trust us, it's not quite as dark as it sounds.
Posted on their official Twitter account, the new Good Omens teaser plays like an old VHS warning message complete with resolution lines and tracking problems, which are nice thematic touches. The story in the book took place at the time of publication, which was 1990, so if that setting is the same for the show, this would have been right at the height of VHS technology.
As we see in the teaser, the antichrist is missing and the end is near, according to the predictions of a witch named Agnes Nutter. In the book, it's well documented that Nutter's prophecies are pretty spot on, so this is a serious matter.
Aziraphale and Crowley, played respectively by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, are the protagonists of the story (one an angel and the other a demon), and they've found that over their centuries on Earth they've become rather fond of it and aren't particularly looking forward to seeing the end of times.
Below you can also check out the full trailer for the show, which dropped last year at New York Comic Con.
Premiering in 2019 on Amazon Prime, Good Omens stars David Tennant as Crowley, Michael Sheen as Aziraphale, Jon Hamm as the angel Gabriel, Jack Whitehall as wage clerk turned witch-hunter Newton Pulsifer, Michael McKean as witch-finder Sgt. Shadwell, Miranda Richardson as psychic medium Madame Tracy, and Frances McDormand as the voice of God.
