Executive producer Neil Gaiman shared a production update for Prime Video’s upcoming Good Omens Season 2.

On his Tumblr account, Gaiman confirmed that the creative team has completed the production and post-production work on the next installment of Good Omens. However, the creator clarified that Amazon Studios still has "lots of other things to do" before the fantasy comedy can make its return to the small screen. This includes the episode dubbing process, trailer editing, and production of "excellent" bonus content.

In a previous Tumblr post, Gaiman teased their plans for Good Omens Season 2’s bonus content, which will likely feature deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes footage. However, he revealed that fans might not be getting a blooper reel for Season 2. "I don’t expect there will be a blooper reel, due to a disappointing lack of bloops." He said. "There will be many many extras – we are making sure that any deleted scenes or even deleted good lines of dialogue get given to Amazon X-Ray and can be clicked on and viewed."

What to Expect in Good Omens Season 2

Prime Video's fan-favorite series is based on Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel titled Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. It stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, respectively, who have lived on Earth since it was first created. Because of this, they both have grown accustomed to the joys of human existence. In Season 1, their way of life is threatened by the impending start of Armageddon. To prevent this, the unlikely duo embark on a quest to save the world by finding the missing Anti-Christ.

Following the show’s streaming success, Good Omens Season 2, which will feature Aziraphale and Crowley getting involved in a surprising mystery. Unlike the first installment, Season 2 will be departing from the source material to tell an entirely original story. "Oh, it’s wonderful. It’s so much fun," Gaiman said about his experience developing the narrative of Good Omens Season 2. "I feel like Good Omens Season 1 was 'Chopsticks.' This is much more me getting to the whole orchestra."

Joining Sheen and Tennant in Season 2 are returning cast members Jon Hamm, Michael McKean, Gloria Obianyo, Miranda Richardson, Reece Shearsmith and Nina Sosanya, with some of them set to play new roles. Gaiman previously shared that he’s excited for everyone to meet Quiz actor Maggie Service’s new character, seemingly teasing their significance in Season 2’s storyline. In Season 1, Service appeared as Sister Theresa Garrulous during Episode 1.

Good Omens Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2023.
