WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 3 of NBC's Good Girls.

Since the ladies in NBC's Good Girls entered the criminal ring, their relationships have never been on solid ground. Beth (Christina Hendricks) and Dean (Matthew Lillard) already had a fragile marriage going while her sister Annie (Mae Whitman) was torn up over her ex and in Season 3, she continued a bad habit of sleeping around with questionable characters for the thrill of it.

Now, though, the one marriage viewers thought was strong and immovable -- Ruby (Retta) and Stan (Reno Wilson) -- may well have been broken in the latest episode, "Nana."

Stan has taken a dark turn this season as a bouncer at a Michigan strip club. He turned down the chance to work as a cop again because he didn't want to compromise his job knowing full-well his wife and her girls were criminals. Plus, after being investigated in the past, he knew he'd always be under scrutiny. It's why he's working with Krystal (Noureen DeWulf) and escorting her girls to strip parties where they steal from the elites. Stan makes it clear they have to follow his rules for it to work properly, and so far, it's been bringing in the money.

However, when he gets to work in this episode, he finds a cop from another precinct threatening to search his ladies for missing trinkets. They argue he doesn't have a warrant but Stan defuses the situation by speaking down to the ladies. The cop feels a rapport with him, leading to Stan vouching for the strippers. He plays the cop like a fiddle and his girls dodge a bullet. Krystal doesn't like his attitude, even though he was faking it, and asks Stan to cool off for a while. Shockingly, he goes into kingpin mode and makes it clear that's not happening. Like a pimp, he reveals they'll only take money (aka the untraceable) for now, because the heists are working. Krystal is stunned because his whole tone has changed, indicating he's enjoying the darkness within.

It all comes to a head when he reveals his anniversary present of a karaoke set to Ruby that evening. She's flattered but angry as she knows he's buying extravagant gifts doing something illegal. They start to argue as she doesn't see his salary as being able to afford all this and the fact he's so secretive worries her. Stan pours his anger out letting her know he hated how being a cop and a paragon of virtue because it still left his family poor. In short, he thinks doing the right thing doesn't pay; crime does. His chat with the cop at the strip club solidified this because he sees how police are struggling to make ends meet.

Most notably, he says it's unfair Ruby gets to be a criminal and do what she wants, while he can't. He wants to "break walls" too and at this point, Ruby understands it's his pride, ego and insecurity driving him. He can't stand she's the main breadwinner and his emphatic statement comes as he walks off, telling her it doesn't matter what she thinks. Stan says he's not stopping and at this point, one can sense he doesn't care if his marriage ends. That's because to him, it ended when he had to doctor evidence as a cop to protect his wife.

Good Girls stars Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, Retta, Matthew Lillard, Reno Wilson and Manny Montana. Season 3 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
