WARNING: The following contains spoilers for NBC's Good Girls Season 4, Episode 4, "Dave."

NBC's Good Girls took some time, but it eventually broke the once-altruistic Stan (Reno Wilson) when he tried to make some extra cash bouncing at a strip club. Granted, he's still a sympathetic figure, as he lost his job as a cop covering for Beth (Christina Hendricks) and his wife, Ruby (Retta), in their criminal endeavors. Still, Stan had a choice and was a true blue hero many felt would have resisted the darkness.

Unfortunately, he's been caught by his mob boss Gene (Niko Nicotera) for running private jobs with his dancers, which has sadly led to an indebted Stan becoming his enforcer. And in the latest episode of Good Girls, "Dave," Stan's criminal career gets a whole lot worse when Gene turns the screws on him in the worst way possible.

Stan is finally sick of traveling around Michigan and beating up people for Gene. Not only does this cause moral troubles for Stan, but working for Gene takes a mental toll on him, since he's forced to hide his actions from his family and knows Ruby will feel guilty if she finds out the truth.

The problem comes to a head when Stan indicates he wants out, to which Gene surprisingly agrees. The next day, though, Gene tells Stan someone else will take his shift at the club, more or less indicating he's fired. As he walks out, a cop arrives and proceeds to question Stan about smashing a cash register earlier in the week. The cop wants to see Stan's knuckles, and there's no way he can lie his way out of the situation. With Gene pulling the strings, Stan is left with no choice but to unwrap his bandages. However, just as he's about to reveal his bruised hands, Gene stops him and tells the cop Stan was with him on a job. The cop leaves with a smirk on his face, making clear he works for Gene.

Stan leaves angry but scared, seeing officers on the payroll who can make his life a living hell, as they can throw him in jail or harass his family. Gene gloats and makes it clear they've got more collections to make, and if Stan pisses him off, there'll be hell to pay. Sadly, not even the ladies can break him out of this one, and Stan accepts he'll be stuck working with Gene for a long time.

Good Girls stars Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, Retta, Matthew Lillard, Reno Wilson and Manny Montana. Season 4 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
