WARNING: The following contains spoilers for NBC's Good Girls Season 4, Episode 9, "Chef Boyardee."

In NBC's Good Girls, Dean (Matthew Lillard) is trying hard to rebuild his life. He's been to jail to cover for Beth (Christina Hendricks) and stuck it out for their family. While they've rekindled a bit of their old flame, he can tell she's still in compromising situations -- criminal and sexual -- with the sinister gangster, Rio (Manny Montana). Sadly, despite seeing Beth clawing her way up to refill their bank account, Dean makes a stupid move that puts them in debt again.

Dean doesn't have a dime to his name after running his car dealership into the ground in Good Girls' previous seasons. They lost everything, which caused Beth to turn on him, especially after realizing he was a cheater. Now, she's the only source of income after he got out of prison with an FBI deal.

But his ego continues to dig at him. He can't stand the idea that Beth's into Rio while she also despises him for tying her down to his criminal empire. Given that he's got an ankle bracelet too, Dean just feels like a pet, being tracked and watched over for his sins. It comes to a head after he gets involved with a group of cyclists around their Michigan suburb, feeling like one of the guys again.

He can't bike far, but he gains a sense of freedom on the roads. One of the crew, Vance (Breckin Meyer), then decides to bring Dean in on what's clearly a pyramid scheme involving men's health care products. But Dean's so desperate, he can't tell what's going on when pitched by the pack leader.

Luckily, one of his old colleagues tells him the truth about his boys' club and reminds Dean he could still have a future on a car lot someday, even if it's not his own. This encourages Dean to exit the group, but Vance cuts a shady figure, indicating Dean will have to pay for the garage full of products, which equates to tens of thousands of dollars.

As the gang then settles into Dean's hot tub, he looks dazed and depressed as he realizes this will cost Beth. She has the funds. So if he wants out, he'll have to convince her to purchase the product and move them, which isn't the best move as Beth and the other ladies don't have much saved right now.

Good Girls stars Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, Retta, Matthew Lillard, Reno Wilson and Manny Montana. Season 4 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
