WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 3 of NBC's Good Girls.

Season 3 of Good Girls has put Ruby (Retta) and her family into a most precarious position. Stan (Reno Wilson) is officially running a very illegal side hustle involving thieving strippers, and he has no intention of ever again being the bedrock Ruby leaned on after she broke bad.

More so, their daughter Sara (Lydia Jewett) has had to wrestle with her own inner demons. To lash out at her dysfunctional parents, she's started stealing. However, after Ruby brutally chided her in the last episode, a guilty Sara decides to make amends in "Opportunity" by inviting over the couple whose daughter died, giving Sara the kidney she needed. This turns out to be a massive disaster, though, as Ruby herself has a guilt trip that puts the FBI right on her tail.

Sara needing a kidney was the reason Ruby turned to crime in the first place, and she let the girl know that, suggesting all she ever did was for Sara. Now, Sara wants to set things right and actually have her mom do some good with the dirty money Ruby's syndicate earns from counterfeiting cash for Rio (Manny Montana). Stan and Ruby throw the couple -- Carl (Ptolemy Slocum) and Jenny (Audrey Wasilewski) -- a lavish dinner. Unfortunately, they're having a hard time. The couple is depressed and Carl's been laid off since their daughter passed away.

They don't even have money to get back home, so the family offers them a room for the night, feeling guilty that they celebrated the death of the couple's daughter because it offered Sara a shot at life. Also, the fact they're making money as criminals while innocent, loving people like Carl and Jenny suffer eats away at Ruby and Stan's souls. It gets even messier in the morning when Ruby makes an epic breakfast spread. That's because, unlike Carl, who refused to accept anyone's pity the night before, in a bold move, Jenny hits up Ruby for a new car.

Ruby tries to downplay her family's seemingly cozy lifestyle because, despite how it looks, they are still wracked by previous medical debt. But Jenny points out their home's nice, Ruby and Stan are working, and their daughter is healthy and alive. This is a low blow by the conniving Jenny, who's subtly sly, but very effective in her manipulation. She says Carl's too proud to ask for help, but she isn't, and she makes it clear Ruby's happiness is coming at her daughter's expense.

After this dark turn, Ruby agrees to make the car purchase. To Sara, this is a move that redeems her mom, who just wants to clear their debt to karma and move on. Then again, one has to wonder if Jenny will hit up Ruby and Stan for something else in the future. And unfortunately, it's a terrible decision because Ruby uses the last cut of cash Rio gave her to make the purchase. Phoebe (Lauren Lapkus), the newest FBI agent hunting Ruby's syndicate, has found out about the purchase using her online tracking team and believes she's found the criminal.

Phoebe was monitoring the scandalous nail polish heist from the last episode, and after investigating all members of the church charity drive Ruby used as a cover, this car has now made Ruby a suspect. The jig's up, as they know Ruby works at the salon, and once the FBI look into Ruby's past and realize she had a link to the deceased Agent Turner, it's just a matter of time before Beth and Annie are implicated too thanks to Ruby's kind yet inadvisable gesture.

Good Girls stars Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, Retta, Matthew Lillard, Reno Wilson and Manny Montana. Season 3 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
