The King of the Monsters is trading punches with the protectors of Angel Grove in a new trailer for Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.BOOM! Studios released a trailer for Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which comes from writer Cullen Bunn (Green Lantern, Godzilla: Cataclysm) and illustrator by Freddie Williams II (Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Injustice vs. Masters of the Universe). The synopsis for the first issue reads, "When Rita Repulsa uses an ancient artifact to transport herself to a universe without Power Rangers, she finds herself in a world with aliens, kaiju, and… Godzilla! Hoping to annihilate this new foe, Rita hurls her own terrible creatures into battle. But she never expects that the Rangers have followed her to this alternate reality, pitting the Dinozords themselves head-to-head with the King of the Monsters!"
The trailer shows a glimpse of the Power Rangers following Rita into this new world that's home to the King of the Monsters, among other monsters. Included in the preview is a moment where the Power Rangers' Megazord takes on Godzilla, while a number of other monsters and villains -- Goldar, Gigan and more -- hang around in the background of a seemingly demolished city.
While the Power Rangers have fought countless monsters thrown at them from Rita, the upcoming series marks the first time the team has ever gone toe-to-toe with Godzilla. "I am honored to bring two iconic franchises like Godzilla and the Power Rangers together," Bunn previously said. "I've been a massive Godzilla fan before I could read, and my love for the King of Monsters has never faded in all those years. Likewise, I've always loved tokusatsu superheroics, and vividly remember watching the first episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when it came out. This is a crossover that I suspect will take readers by surprise -- but it makes complete sense! Writing for these characters is a dream come true for this giant monster-loving kid-at-heart, and when readers pick up this book, I want them to feel that sense of awe and wonder that these characters have inspired for decades!"

Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is a collaboration between IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios, Toho and Hasbro. The first issue releases on March 24.
