The official runtime for Godzilla vs. Kong has been revealed, thanks to French entertainment website AlloCiné.The Kaiju News Outlet reported on Twitter that AlloCiné listed Godzilla vs. Kong's runtime at 1 hour and 53 minutes long. That would make it the shortest film in Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse series. For comparison, Gareth Edwards' Godzilla came in at 2 hours and 3 minutes, while Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters ran for 2 hours and 12 minutes and Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island clocked in at 1 hour and 58 minutes. Warner Bros. and Legendary have not yet provided a comment on the runtime.RELATED: Kong Hooks Godzilla in Epic Sea-Bound Battle Clip

A common criticism of the MonsterVerse films is that they often prioritize their human characters over the titular monsters, which may have led to a shorter runtime. However, director Adam Wingard says that negative reception to Godzilla: King of the Monsters didn't impact his work on Godzilla vs. Kong. "Well, I mean, one of the reasons why [Warner Bros.] brought me on is I think a follow up to King of [the] Monsters is because I am so different than Michael Dougherty as a director," Wingard said. "I mean he definitely leans more into the kind of horror realm, and his approach to Godzilla is really kind of scary in a lot of ways, and I think that they knew that the next film after that had to be different regardless of how it was going to be received, and I think I was kind of chosen ultimately because my take was always going to be [tonally very fun and] colorful and all those kinds of things, and so fortunately it didn't really affect us too much in a literal way."

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry. The film arrives in theaters and on HBO Max on March 31.
