Godzilla vs. Kong has already leaped past expectations in its worldwide box office run and now it looks poised to turn a profit from its theatrical run.

According to Deadline, Godzilla vs. Kong is currently projected to bring in a profit of $96.4 million despite facing numerous challenges in its theatrical run. These obstacles include a simultaneous HBO Max launch domestically as well as theaters in key international markets like Brazil and the majority of Europe being closed due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

This number was gathered by projecting that Godzilla vs. Kong has already gathered $131 million for Warner Bros. after theaters take their share of the box office. This box office haul triggered a number of post-release revenue streams like home entertainment and TV deals, which brought the projected profit of the project to $96.4 million. The inaugural film in the MonsterVerse, Godzilla, is projected to have amassed a profit of $52.4 million.

After only a handful of weekends of worldwide play, Godzilla vs. Kong has already hit several notable box office milestones. With a $69.5 million domestic gross, it is the biggest domestic release since the pandemic began while it's also managed to gross a hefty $358 million worldwide.

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry. The film is now playing theaters and on HBO Max.
