Godzilla vs. Kong will be hitting theaters earlier than expected in 2020.
The fourth chapter in Warner Bros./Legendary's MonsterVerse, which began with 2014's Godzilla, has been bumped up from May 22, 2020 to March 13, 2020. Although it's currently unconfirmed, this move may have been to avoid competition with Fast and Furious 9, which is now releasing on the former date.
Shooting on the follow-up to this year's Godzilla: King of the Monsters has already started in Hawaii and Australia Major details about Godzilla vs. Kong have been kept under wraps, but it's clear the two Titans (MonsterVerse's label for Kaiju) and their battle for supremacy will be the movie's main focus. While this drama unfolds, humanity, via the top-secret organization known as Monarch, will be trying to survive the impending war and eliminate the Titans once and for all.
Godzilla vs. Kong, directed by Adam Wingard, will now release on March 13, 2020. The film stars Kyle Chandler, Ziyi Zhang, Millie Bobby Brown, Danai Gurira, Bryan Tyree Henry, Demian Bichir, Alexander Skarsgard, Jessica Henwick, and Julian Dennison. It is a sequel to Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which is out on May 31.
