In addition to giant monster showdowns, Godzilla vs. Kong will also feature the debut of a new evil organization in the MonsterVerse.
During a set visit attended by Collider and other outlets, it was revealed that Godzilla vs. Kong will feature a sinister company named Apex. The entity is apparently doing something to adversely affect Godzilla which has negative consequences on the rest of the world. It's also a place that character Bernie Hayes (Brian Tyree Henry) found so suspicious that he tried to expose their dealings while working there as a technician.
It's noted that, in contrast to fellow MonsterVerse organization Monarch, the sets used for locations within Apex have a more ultramodern visual aesthetic to it while the uniforms for Apex employees display a heavy emphasis on greys and blacks.
Apex is one of many new elements that Godzilla vs. Kong is bringing to the MonsterVerse. The film will also feature multiple newly created monsters, while speculation has run rampant on the internet that the movie's teaser has revealed a classic Godzilla adversary making their MonsterVerse debut.
Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry. The film arrives in theaters and on HBO Max March 31.
