The cast of director Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong continues to grow with True Blood alum Alexander Skarsgard currently in negotiations for a role in the kaiju crossover.

While details about the plot and cast are currently under wraps, Skarsgard's character is reportedly the leader of a military unit amidst the showdown between the two hulking monsters.

The eagerly anticipated film is expected to begin principal photography next month in Atlanta, Hawaii, and Australia and run until February 2019 to meet its 2020 release date. The screenplay is written by Terry Rossio, who previously penned all five entries of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, with Adam Wingard (Netflix's Death Note) directing.

Skarsgard joins previously announced cast members including Danai Gurira, Bryan Tyree Henry, Demian Bichir, and Julian Dennison as the humans caught in the middle of catastrophic carnage between the two titular behemoths. Additionally, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and Ziyi Zhang will reprise their roles as from next year's Godzilla: King of the Monsters which is currently in post-production.

Godzilla vs. Kong, directed by Adam Wingard, will release on May 22, 2020. The film stars Kyle Chandler, Ziyi Zhang, Millie Bobby Brown, Danai Gurira, Bryan Tyree Henry, Demian Bichir, and Julian Dennison.
