WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of Godzilla Singular Point, now streaming on Netflix.

In Godzilla Singular Point, it's revealed a catastrophe is going to happen that will destroy the Earth. This catastrophe is why the Shiva Consortium exists, driven by the research of Professor Ashihara, a genius who worked on the anime's mysterious Red Dust, as well as the theory that other dimensions were bleeding over into this Earth.

It's also why kaiju are coming over with this dust, and how the peculiar Archetype cube is able to exist, as it lives and breathes in more than one dimension. All of this study of space and time allowed Ashihara to create a unique weapon known as the Orthogonal Diagonzer. Let's break down what it is.

In the first season of Godzilla Singular Point, B.B. and other Shiva operatives can't unlock the secret of the Diagonzer, which is effectively an hourglass-looking bomb. It's similar to the Oxygen Destroyer originated in the very first Godzilla film -- killing the title monster -- which Ashihara conceived decades ago. The problem is, Ashihara's since disappeared without perfecting it. But he left clues behind indicating that a special code is needed to unveil its true power.

This makes sense as it was made from the theoretical data and physics of the Red Dust. Sadly, Ashihara couldn't unlock the truth behind all the states of the dust. In actuality, he understood two of these states, while the Archetype was the 13th, but everything in between remained a total mystery. Even after building a Super Dimensional Computer, Ashihara could only predict that a disaster was coming and when, but he couldn't get the intel needed to perfect the bomb to stop it.

To solve the mystery, Mei and B.B. hope they can dive into the singular point that engulfs Ashihara's computer at a Shiva lair in India. They're not sure if he got sucked into the rift but they think the code and his secrets to unlocking the full potential of the bomb are inside the portal. This causes Mei to send her A.I., Pelops II, inside, hoping it can pull out the final pieces of the puzzle. All this is essential because Shiva can't use the imitation bombs B.B. made to complete the mission.

Though his team reverse-engineered what Ashihara left behind, their imitation bombs could only turn the Red Dust into red shards, rendering it temporarily inert. When they use it on the kaiju Salunga, for instance, despite being impaled, the beast lives. Ergo, these copy bombs cannot be used to kill the catastrophe, which they realize is Godzilla rampaging through Tokyo.

Luckily, Pelops gets the data and sends it to the Jet Jaguar robot fighting Godzilla in Singular Point's finale. This allows Jet Jaguar to become Jet Jaguar PP, and this titanic robot then transforms into the new Orthogonal Diagonzer -- a bomb that properly neutralizes the Red Dust across the planet, turning it to blue crystals and blowing Godzilla up. The audience, meanwhile, is left wondering if the military can somehow recover the code and turn the bombs B.B. was working into the true versions of what Ashihara envisioned to protect the planet -- a question Season 2 of the anime will be left to answer.
