If these new photos are any indication, the teaser poster for Toho's "Godzilla: Resurgence" may not have accurately conveyed just how scary the updated King of the Monsters will be.

Somewhat-nightmarish images circulated over the weekend by Toho fan groups and on Twitter reveal what appears to be the "hybrid" suit that will be employed in the first Japanese Godzilla movie in more than a decade.

Co-directed by Hideaki Anno (“Neon Genesis Evangelion”) and Shinji Higuchi (“Attack on Titan”), “Godzilla: Resurgence” is expected to feature the tallest Godzilla yet, towering over the 108-meter creature depicted in Gareth Edwards’ 2014 U.S. film.

"Godzilla: Resurgence" will open in Japan this summer, and then make its way to North American shores later in the year.
