Ever since the announcement and evocative first teaser for "Shin Godzilla" — aka "Godzilla Resurgence" — fans have been eagerly awaiting a U.S. release date. Now, they finally have one.

The King of the Monsters will burst through North American screens, tail a-swingin' and radioactive breath a-fumin', for a limited engagement Oct. 11–18. That's probably a shorter engagement than many fans had hoped, but, hey, it's better than nothing.

There will also be two premieres slightly before the one-week run: Oct. 3 in Los Angeles and Oct. 5 in New York, which just happens to be the eve of New York Comic Con. Details for those events will be announced later. In the meantime, get your kaiju fix by watching the latest trailer below, as well as the informative FX reel. This clearly isn't your grandfather's rubber-suited monster.

Directed by Hideki Anno (“Evangelion”) and Shinji Higuchi (“Attack on Titan”) with artwork by Shinji Higuchi, “Godzilla Resurgence” retells the tale of the monster’s first attack on Japan — the third time such a reboot has taken place in the franchise. The last Western hemisphere outing, “Godzilla,” was directed by Gareth Edwards in 2014; a sequel to that film is slated for June 8, 2018.

"Godzilla Resurgence" has already opened to rave reviews in Japan.
