New details have emerged surround the direction of the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' upcoming movie monster mash-up, Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

According to IGN, the sequel to 2014's Godzilla won't just pit Rodan and King Ghidorah as antagonists fighting Godzilla and Mothra. The film will also reportedly feature a terrorist organization that's searching for the Orca, a device used to speak with these monstrous Titans.

A set visit revealed that catalyst for the movie involves Vera Farmiga's Dr. Emma Russell, a member of the scientific watchdog group Monarch, and her daughter, Millie Bobby Brown's Madison, kidnapped by this mercenary group. This happens as part of the group's attempt to capture the Orca that Emma created, which would grant the villains a limited form of communication with, or control of, the giant monsters.

"[Monarch believes] that the mercenary group may be there and a whole chase ensues with Rodan, which is a really great sequence Mike has come up with in the movie," said producer Alex Garcia. "The Monarch crew is in a craft they have called the Argo. Part of it is how do we do things with these creatures that we've not seen before, and just the idea of an aerial chase between this thing and all of these crafts is super exciting."

Fans have long speculated this would be the case with Charles Dance's (Game of Thrones) mysterious character rumored to be the head of the mercenaries. As another fan theory suggests, the Argo is a nod to a classic drone called the Super X from the Toho franchise. With these new details coming to light, all that remains to be seen is just how the kaiju react to a group of humans trying to use them for their own ends.

Directed by Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, and Zhang Ziyi. The film opens May 31, 2019.
