As Godzilla: King of the Monsters prepares to make its' way to theaters, fans eagerly await to see the titular monster do battle with Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah on the silver screen. Now, the film's director and co-writer Mike Dougherty has released a particularly chilling still featuring Ghidorah that might succeed in not only increasing anticipation but also instilling fear in the hearts of moviegoers.Uploaded onto Dougherty's Twitter, the still features Ghidorah roaring into the sky, with one of his wings extended, and a flash of lightning appearing behind it as smoke fills the area. Adding to the nightmarish image, what appears to be lava serves as the ground Ghidorah stands upon, making it look as though he's rising from the depths of Hell.

The only words in the tweet Dougherty uses to describe the image are "The Golden Demise," almost as if he's letting fans know about the kind of monster Ghidorah is.

If the still is anything to go by, Ghidorah may just be the most powerful enemy Godzilla faces in the film, and the near-biblical style of the still highlights the true horror of the three-headed beast. When the film arrives in theaters, moviegoers may want to prepare themselves for what terrors Ghidorah brings with him.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Ken Watanabe and Bradley Whitford. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 31.
