After a flurry of teases, and a bit of a false alarm, the second trailer has arrived for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, posing a big question about these Titans: which are friends, and which are foes?
Released nearly five months after the first, this trailer focuses on the ramifications of the presence of these Earth-shaking, and city-destroying, kaiju, and what precisely their motivations are. And at the center of it all is the brewing showdown between Godzilla and his "rival alpha," Ghidorah.
Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
Directed by Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, and Zhang Ziyi. The film opens May 31, 2019.
