Beloved comic book artist Jim Lee revealed his version of Godzilla in a recent sketch.Posted on Twitter, the image shows the iconic monster in a debris-laden landscape, popping the top off of a bottle and demonstrating the powerful heat ray. Lee's sketch illustrates the Godzilla vs. Kong version of the monster. CBR recently spoke with visual effects supervisor Bryan Hirota, who discussed the film's major ocean battle in which the King of Monsters showed off that striking blue ray. "I remember my first impression of seeing that viz: That shot, that's the movie. One of these monsters punching the other in the face standing on an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean. This sort of heightened ridiculous, in my opinion, is what the movie should be," Hirota said about the Godzilla and King Kong face-off.

Released in theaters at the end of March, Godzilla vs. Kong exceeded expectations by becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year. The fourth installment of the MonsterVerse franchise has earned more than $400 million globally, one of the few pandemic-era films to do so. As of May, the film is closing in on the $100 million mark at the domestic box office.

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry. The film is now playing in theaters. In addition to the 4K, Blu-ray and DVD editions dropping on June 15, the film is now available to purchase digitally.
