Even though the first-ever Godzilla anime just debuted in Japanese theaters, we already know which Kaiju its sequel will introduce: The one and only MechaGodzilla.

In the wake of the release of Monster Planet, the first theatrically-released Godzilla anime, the film's website has revealed its second installment in a proposed trilogy: Godzilla: Kessen Kidō Zōshoku Toshi, which translates to Godzilla: The City Mechanized for the Final Battle. The studio also revealed a teaser poster for the film boasting a reimagined MechaGodzilla, which you can check out below.

In classic Godzilla lore, humanity builds MechaGodzilla as a means to combat the OG Godzilla. So, we can expect the last, struggling remnants of humanity relying on MechaGodzilla as a last hope of sorts to reclaim Earth from the King of all Kaiju.

Monster Planet is currently screening in Japanese theaters; it hits Netflix worldwide later this year. Godzilla: The City Mechanized for the Final Battle hits Japanese theaters in May, 2018.

Stateside, the next live-action Godzilla film, Godzilla: King of The Monsters, crashes into theaters in March, 2019.
