Mondo kicked off its new Godzilla Museum statue line with a sculpt based on an iteration of the mighty monster that hasn't received much attention over the years -- the 1978 Hanna-Barbara cartoon.

The Godzilla - The Animated Series limited edition statue is now available for sale on Mondo's website for $120. The sculpt lovingly recreates the King of the Monsters as he appeared in the animated series and stands at 7.5" tall (8.25" with the base).

According to the product description, Mondo "took out all of the stops to evoke the series' look and feel, with its full cel-like line art and paint application, painstakingly realized by sculptor Tufan Sezer, designer & painter Hector Arce, and package designer Mike Bonanno."

Future additions to the Godzilla Museum line will include other unique interpretations of the Japanese kaiju, including a stylized Godzilla likeness by artist Peter Santa-Maria -- better known as Attack Peter -- and a design inspired by the original 1954 Gojira.

Hanna-Barbara's 26-episode cartoon has received little in the way of Godzilla merchandise, but is still remembered for its catchy theme song, which proudly proclaimed that Godzilla rose "up from the depths, thirty stories high." The show focused on a group of scientists on the Calico research ship who could summon Godzilla via a signal device. Notably, it also featured Godzooky, Godzilla's smaller nephew who served as comic relief and was reminiscent of Minilla, titular baby kaiju of the 1967 film Son of Godzilla.
