"Gods of Egypt" leaps and twirls into Syfy Original Movie territory with this latest clip, in which Brenton Thwaites attempts to avoid death at the hands of spinning, sword-wielding statues. Not that the giant CG snake blended seamlessly with its environment in that earlier scene, but here the effects are jarringly rough.

Directed by Alex Proyas, the fantasy spectacle centers on an unexpected mortal hero (Thwaites) who must enlist the help of the god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) to save the world and rescue his true love. They must form an unlikely alliance against Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once-peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.

Opening Feb. 26, “Gods of Egypt” also stars Chadwick Boseman, Geoffrey Rush, Rufus Sewell, Abbey Lee, Elodie Yung and Courtney Eaton.
