A piece of fan art shows a glimpse of the vast size of God of War's Jormungandr. The picture shows the World Serpent lurking beneath the waters of a lone dinghy, easily dwarfing the vessel above with its sheer mass. Its glowing yellow eyes are staring into a small figure aboard the boat, who could be Atreus, based on the recognizable quiver strapped to their back. The shadows around Jormungandr notably serve to give the illustration an eerie atmosphere, as if the depths are still hiding the true scale of the Midgard Serpent beneath.Related: God of War Ragnarök Fan Art Captures a Tense and Emotional Struggle

Some fans of Quantic Dream might have felt some elements of the image's composition were familiar, and there's a reason why. The creator of this piece revealed that one of the French-based studio's published titles influenced their work, commenting, "By the way, this way inspired by the game called Sea of Solitude."

Jormungandr originally appeared during Kratos and Atreus' journey through Midgard in 2018's God of War. While he initially seemed like a monstrous giant worthy of becoming the game's final boss fight, he actually became a friend of the father-son duo and even shared Kratos' dislike of the Aesir gods. He harbors a special hatred for Thor Odinson, who he is destined to face during the final days of Ragnarok.

There's some good news for gamers hoping to see the World Serpent in all its gargantuan glory but have yet to get their hands on a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. God of War is officially coming to PC on Jan. 14, 2022, with added features such as the integration of the Nvidia Reflex system, which should provide a more responsive gameplay experience. However, interested PC owners might want to first check the list of specifications for God of War's PC port, as its highest settings can put a heavy load on even the most expensive of systems.

Veteran fans of the series might have also heard of a possible leak concerning God of War's upcoming sequel. The PlayStation database reportedly listed God of War: Ragnarok for release on Sept. 30, 2022, though it's possible the listed information is just a placeholder left during the title's development cycle. While Santa Monica Studio scheduled the continuation of Kratos and Atreus' saga for 2022, it has yet to give a specific date for the game's launch.
