Producer Cory Barlog hinted developers at Santa Monica Studio are getting ready to announce more information regarding the highly anticipated God of War: Ragnarök.Barlog urged fans of the franchise to exercise just a little more patience in their anticipation for God of War's upcoming sequel. Barlog previously commented on the developers' silence regarding the ongoing development of God of War: Ragnarök. During the franchise's fourth anniversary celebration, he claimed all of the development team members were still hard at work on the sequel. "We are perfectionists," Barlog said. "Everyone's tightening up the graphics on level three, there is so much going on right now that I just wish that we could share with you, but it's just not ready to be shown." The producer claimed further details will be announced the moment the studio was ready. He went on to thank the fans for their continued love for God of War. "It is your support that allows us to keep doing the things that we love to do," Barlog concluded.

According to trusted industry insider Jason Schreier, the long silence regarding the highly anticipated sequel will soon come to an end. Schreier claimed three people allegedly familiar with God of War: Ragnarök's production separately claimed the game was scheduled for launch sometime this coming November. Two of the sources also believed PlayStation and Santa Monica Studio planned to announce the game's release date later this month, though nothing has yet been confirmed.

During a panel at Comic-Con Revolution in May, Actor Ryan Hurst also reported he was finished working on "the last tiny bit of God of War for Thor." Hurst additionally revealed God of War: Ragnarök gave him his first brush with motion capture technology, with the actor claiming "it was a lot of fun." He commented on how different it felt to watch his rendered in-game character mimic his performance. "It was a little bit more like, you know, like using a marionette or something than it was acting," Hurst said. "But it was, you know, that's how it happened."

God of War: Ragnarök is scheduled to release sometime in 2022 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
