When the anime The God of High School first made its debut on Crunchyroll, it lived up to the hype with its action-packed first episode. With back-to-back fights occurring without a moment to lose, the series garnered fans and anime fans alike to praise it first the wonderful fight choreography. However, one thing was lackingーthe story, as it was quite a jumbled mess.

Despite it having some of the best-directed fights in recent anime history, as well as great animation by MAPPA, there were, unfortunately, many things that didn't make sense. The God of High School may have had great fights, but the story didn't make much sense at times. Here are 10 things that left fans' heads scratching after the finale, as well as throughout watching the anime.

10 How Does Someone Awaken Their Charyeok?

Charyeok

Charyeok was first mentioned in The God of High School once the second half of the tournament began when the participants had to team up with other members. This was, in truth, set up by Park Mujin to see who had the potential to awaken their Charyeok.

However, the way a character awakens it isn't clearly explained, nor is how they know how to immediately utilize it as if they always knew how. This leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

9 Why Did The First Announcer Die?

Sim Bongsa God Of High School

The culprit behind the first announcer, Sim Bongsa's death, was a member of the group, Nox. Although Bongsa wasn't that important of a character, he had an interesting enough backstory as well as family fans received a glimpse at in the manhwa.

Besides the viewer having no idea what Nox wants, the fact he was murdered remains a mysteryーat least in the anime, more so than the manhwa.

8 Where Does It Take Place?

Jin Mori

This question is answered in the manhwa, but unfortunately, not in the anime adaption of The God of High School. But for those who have only watched the anime, this remains an extremely confusing topic that doesn't make much sense.

Although the announcer states the tournament takes place in Seoul, Korea, the second half of the anime takes place in a fantastical island that is never thoroughly explained.

7 What Are Nox's Real Intentions?

Nox God Of High School

Nox. They are the ones searching for The Key as told throughout the series, although it is never explained what, and how, they came to that conclusion.

The true question isーwhat are Nox's intentions in getting The Key, and what is this God they are so focused on summoning? It also seems like Park Mujin is acquainted with one of the members of Nox and has been for a while.

6 Who Are The Antagonists?

Jugok

One thing that is a solid fact is that Nox is an evil organization, but besides that, the reason is unknown. They wish to take The Key, summon a sword with ominous words engraved in it, and bring their beloved Godーwho isn't namedーback once again.

However, they don't seem like the actual antagonist of the story. For one, the series is more focused on the fights than the story and plot itself.

5 Why Did Mira Let Go Of Her Sword So Easily?

God of High School Mira episode 4

The first member of Nox viewers was introduced to was a man who asked for Yoo Mira's hand in marriage. However, it turns out he didn't want Mira, but her Moon Light Sword Style for himself. Because he was defeated by Mori, Daewi, and Mira, he decided to just take her swordーthe one she should have treasured as much as her life.

However, she allowed him to run off with it. Although she retrieved it later, it never made sense as to why she allowed him to steal something as important to her as that sword.

4 How Did Jin Mori's Grandfather Get Caught?

God of High School Jin Taejin

Jin Taejin is the master of Renewal Taekwondo as well as Mori's adoptive grandfather, and he was shown to be extremely powerful in the anime.

However, at the end of The God of High School, it was shown that he was kidnapped, bruised, and beaten in the last episode.

3 What Does Park Mujin Desire?

Park Mujin

Park Mujin is the organizer of the God of High School Tournament, as well as a mam who looks like he's the antagonist at first glance.

However, Mujin's intentions are not stated, nor explained at all. While in the first few episodes he was shown as being ambiguously evil, the last few showed him helping fight against Nox. What are his actual intentions, if any at all?

2 Why Is Jin Mori Sun Wukong?

God of High School Mori Sun Wukong Episode 13

This isn't a case of the main character being created overpowered. This is a case of the main character being a deity without any explanation, and even if there was, it probably wouldn't make much sense to fans who only watched the anime. T

he last three to four episodes of The God of High School were rushed and didn't make sense at all, but the fact that Mori was revealed to be Sun Wukongーthe God of War himself from Journey to the Westーwasn't hinted at in the story. The only hint would be how well Mori is at fighting and how he has never lost, all except once.

1 Why Is Everyone Looking For The Key?

God of High School Ilpyo Episode 11

It turned out The Key Nox was desperately searching for was hidden inside of Park Ilpyo. Although the fight between Mori and Ilpyo was one of the best fights in The God of High School, him being The Key didn't make much sense in the first place.

It also doesn't make sense as to why everyone, including Mujin, is searching for The Key. Although some anime fans speculated it was Mori who was the one deserving of the label, it turns out that it was Ilpyo, a character no one knew would be as important as he was in the series.
