Writer, director, producer and editor Lynn Shelton passed away on Friday, May 15 at the age of 54. The cause of death is reported to be an unidentified blood disorder.

Shelton's body of work included working on TV shows and films like GLOWMad Men, Little Fires Everywhere and Humpday.

Shelton's romantic partner, Marc Maron said in a statement to Indie Wire, "I have some awful news. Lynn passed away last night. She collapsed yesterday morning after having been ill for a week...There was a previously unknown, underlying condition. It was not COVID-19. The doctors could not save her. They tried. Hard."

 

Once the news broke, several of Shelton's colleagues posted in-memoriam tributes to her, expressing their condolences. Shelton's Little Fires Everywhere star Reese Witherspoon wrote online, "I’m so devastated to hear about Lynn Shelton’s passing yesterday. I’m in complete shock that this vibrant, talented, and soulful filmmaker is no longer with us. Lynn was so passionate about our show, Little Fires Everywhere."

Shelton was also known for being a leading voice in the world of independent film, championing independent filmmakers and actors.
