"X-Men: First Class" star Glenn Morshower has signed on to play General Sam Lane in the upcoming first season of CBS' "Supergirl." According to IGN, Lane will be "a powerful military lifer and an overprotective father to both Lucy Lane and her sister, Lois."
In the show, General Lane will head to National City and attempt to involve Kara (Melissa Benoist) in a dangerous government initiative. He will arrive on the show shortly after his daughter Lucy (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) is introduced.
Morshower is no stranger to comic book roles, having also appeared in "X-Men: First Class," "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." His past credits also include "24," "Moneyball" and "Friday Night Lights."
The show centers on Kara Zor-El, a Kryptonian stranded on Earth following the destruction of her home planet Krypton. Assuming the name Kara Danvers, she decides to come out of hiding at the age of 24 and really use her super abilities for good.
"Supergirl" arrives on CBS on October 26 at 8:30 p.m. EST. Developed by producers Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg, the series stars Benoist, Calista Flockhart, David Harewood and Chyler Leigh.
