SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, currently available for purchase on Digital HD and home video.
A plot summary for M. Night Shyamalan’s sequel to Unbreakable and Split — titled Glass — has surfaced online, and it teases a confrontation between Bruce Willis’ David Dunn and James McAvoy’s Kevin Wendell Crumb/The Beast, as well as the role of Samuel L. Jackson’s Elijah Price/Mr. Glass in the film. Check out the synopsis below.
Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
The final scene of Split featured Dunn, setting up a shared universe for the two movies. Shortly after that reveal, Shyamalan announced that the long-awaited sequel to Unbreakable would finally be coming out, and that it would crossover the two movies.
Unbreakable starred Willis as a David Dunn, a man who uncovers his superhuman powers upon surviving a train crash. Dunn is incredibly strong and seemingly impervious to physical harm. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Elijah Price, whose bones are brittle and prone to fracture. Together, the two represent Shyamalan’s examination of decades-old superhero tropes spawned by comic books.
Split follows the kidnapping of three teenagers — played by Haley Lu Richardson, Jessica Sula and Anya Taylor-Joy — by Kevin Wendell Crumb, a man suffering from dissociative personality disorder who must mentally contend with 23 separate personalities.
Directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan, Glass is slated for release January 18, 2019. The film stars James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb/The Beast, Bruce Willis as David Dunn, Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price/Mr. Glass and Sarah Paulson in an unknown role.
