As more fans and critics alike clue into Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, the acclaimed movie achieves another notable feat by cracking a streaming record previously held by Hocus Pocus 2 and Wonder Woman 1984.

According to Deadline, the Knives Out sequel eclipsed the Hocus Pocus and Wonder Woman follow-ups in viewership, becoming the most-streamed film in a measurement week from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1. With 2.9 billion viewing minutes during its premiere week, the mystery movie set new Nielsen streaming records in the U.S. while also holding two of the top 10 spots for movie streams in a week. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan came second in the rankings with 1.665 billion viewing minutes, while Netflix's hit series Wednesday rounded out the podium with 1.66 billion viewing minutes.

Earlier this month, reports confirmed Glass Onion was Netflix's third-biggest movie debut ever, only trailing Red Notice and Don't Look Up. The whodunit was the streaming service's widest theatrical premiere to date, grossing $15 million in theaters during a one-week limited release across select cinemas. Netflix executive chairman Reed Hastings later admitted the movie could have made more money if it had been given a more extensive theatrical run. The original Knives Out movie, released in 2019, netted $311.9 million at the global box office.

Featuring a star-studded cast including former James Bond franchise star Daniel Craig, Guardians of the Galaxy series actor Dave Bautista and award-winning singer Janelle Monáe, Glass Onion has received very positive feedback, boasting a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie sees tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invite friends to a getaway at his private island. However, after someone ends up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc (Craig) is put on the case, with Miles himself becoming a prime suspect.

Glass Onion has also been a fixture during award season, garnering a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 95th Academy Awards this March while also scoring a pair of nods at the 80th Golden Glove Awards earlier this month. It has also notched several critics awards, with Craig and Monáe racking up multiple nominations for their respective roles.
