MMA fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano (Haywire, Fast & Furious 6) has joined the cast of Radar Pictures' Kickboxer remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she'll play a fight promoter in the film, which just added Jean-Claude Van Damme, star of the 1989 original.

Kickboxer stars stunt performer Alain Moussi in Van Damme's Kurt Sloane role. JCVD now plays Master Chow, who trains him in the ways of Muay Thai boxing to prepare the young martial artist for a throwdown with Tong Po, who killed his brother. Sara Malakul Lane will play Sloane's love interest.

Rounding out the cast is a pair of actors that made big acting splashes in Marvel's 2014 films: Dave Bautista, who starred as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, will play Tong Po; Georges St. Pierre -- Batroc from Captain America: The Winter Soldier -- has also been cast in an unspecified role. John Stockwell (Blue Crush) will direct the remake, which will shoot in New Orleans.

Kickboxer is expected in theaters next year.
