Gilmore Girls: Why Logan Calls Rory 'Ace' (And When He Started)
Matt Czuchry's Logan often referred to Alexis Bledel's Rory as "Ace" on Gilmore Girls. Here's the reasoning behind the nickname and how it started.

In A Year in the Life, Rory has a boyfriend named Paul. She constantly forgets about him and the reminders she leaves herself to break up with him. Since his character's sole purpose is to continue the running gag that Rory continually forgets about him, Paul is barely in the revival series. She cheats on him with Logan. That fact, coupled with her always forgetting about him, suggests he is probably not the father. Gilmore Girls is a series heavily invested in the relationships of its characters. Considering that Paul is a somewhat unimportant character, it's highly unlikely he is Rory's baby daddy.

One candidate many fans hope to be the father of Rory's baby is Rory's ex-boyfriend Jess, whose relationship with Rory in the original series made for plenty of heartwarming rom-com moments. The former flames share a brief but meaningful reunion in the revival series. Near the end of their episodes together, Jess stops by Luke and Lorelai's house. He sees Rory in the window and stares wistfully at her, but it seems that his feelings for her are one-sided. A Year in the Life doesn't allude to any recent romantic encounter between Jess and Rory, so it's unlikely Jess would be Rory's baby daddy.

10 Ways Gilmore Girls Aged Poorly
Gilmore Girls may be a beloved and iconic TV series, but it is also a product of its time, and time has not been kind to these aspects of the show.

That leaves Logan as the prime candidate for the father. During the events of A Year in the Life, Rory had been sleeping with Logan for a while. That alone increases the chances of him being the father of her baby. Logan fathering her child also lines up with the rough patch Rory has been going through in the series, which unfortunately earned her the title of one of Girlmore Girls' most hated characters. Returning to live with her mom in Stars Hollow is likely not where she saw herself in her 30s, and winding up pregnant after engaging in an affair only continues to throw a wrench into her life plans.

Minus the different ages, the circumstances of Rory's unplanned pregnancy mirror those of her mom. With Lorelai and Christopher being in high school and Logan being engaged, both pregnancies took place in less-than-ideal circumstances. With A Year in the Life hinting at Jess's lingering feelings for Rory, she's poised to follow in her mother's footsteps. Logan and Jess are meant to parallel Christopher and Luke. Similar to Christopher's relationship with Lorelai, Logan and Rory share a strong connection. However, he's self-absorbed, and nothing good tends to come from their relationship. On the other hand, Rory and Jess challenge each other. They complement each other well and also care deeply for one another, which is reminiscent of Luke and Lorelai's relationship.

A Year in the Life hints that Logan may be the biological father of Rory's baby, but Jess will ultimately be Rory's romantic fate. However, since Jess is Luke's nephew and Lorelai is married to Luke, this could be a problem in terms of family dynamics, which may even be the reason the show didn't fully delve into the iconic romance between Jess and Rory. However, since Luke and Lorelai were a slow burn, Rory and Jess may be endgame in the long term. Unless the Netflix series gets renewed for a second season, which seems unlikely at this point, fans will be left wondering how Rory's life will play out with a new baby on the way.

Why Jared Padalecki's Dean Left Gilmore Girls
Jared Padalecki's Dean was an important part of Rory's life at the start of Gilmore Girls. Here's why the actor ended up stepping away from the role.

Rory had three important relationships throughout Gilmore Girls and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life: Dean, Jess, and Logan. These three relationships have inspired a lot of internet conversations. The fandom is divided based on which of these romantic interests should be the definitive one. Despite many arguments about it, Amy Sherman-Palladino decided to finish both the original series and the revival with Rory being single.

In A Year in the Life, Rory is dating a man, but she doesn't care about him. At the same time, she's having an affair with Logan, who is married. While both Dean and Jess briefly appear in the revival, they no longer have a romantic connection with Rory. Dean is happily married, while Jess seems to have unilateral feelings for Rory. In the end, Rory and Logan end their toxic relationship, and while pregnant, Rory ends up being single — which is probably the best development in the series.

A lot of TV shows aim to end with the main characters in happy relationships, but that's not always the case in real life. Gilmore Girls is very realistic in that sense. In the original series, Rory and Logan don't end up together because Rory isn't ready for a serious commitment. However, years later, the characters end up having unresolved feelings, but Logan is already married to someone else, so the timing never aligns. Still, Rory does find the purpose she was looking for by writing a novel about her own life. What's more, she's expecting a child, who is likely going to be raised by the Gilmore girls, much like Rory was.
