The four central heroes charged with leading the mutant resistance on The Gifted step into the spotlight in new character posters for Fox’s upcoming X-Men drama.
The posters showcase Polaris (Emma Dumont), who can manipulate magnetism; Eclipse (Sean Teale), who can absorb and manipulate photons; Blink (Jamie Chung), the teleporter; and Thunderbird (Jamie Redford), who possesses superhuman strength and stamina.
Developed by Matt Nix (Burn Notice), The Gifted follows the Struckers, two parents who discover their children possess extraordinary powers. Forced to go on the run from the government, they join an underground network of mutants and must fight for their survival.
The Gifted is the second television series to spin out of Fox’s X-Men franchise, following the successful Legion on FX. However, Nix stated that while The Gifted shares certain characters, elements and themes with the X-Men films, from Blink to Sentinels to anti-mutant sentiments, the show will exist in a separate universe or as he put it, a different “stream.”
Premiering Monday, Oct. 2, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the joint production of Fox and Marvel Television stars Stephen Moyer as Reed Strucker, Amy Acker as Caitlin Strucker, Sean Teale as Marcos Diaz/Eclipse, Coby Bell as Jace Turner, Emma Dumont cast as Lorna Dane/Polaris, Jamie Chung as Blink/Clarice Fong and Blair Redford as John Proudstar/Thunderbird, Natalie Alyn Lind as Lauren Strucker and Percy Hynes White as Andy Strucker.
