The Gifted will make a deep dive into Eclipse's past in the Season 2 episode "coMplications." According to Sean Teale, who plays the character, a flashback will find him back in Columbia. The scene will offer some insight into his views on family and explain his actions in the episode.

"We're going to go even further back! We get to go even further back. Episode 3, which we'll be showing the beginning of at -- so we'll be showing this segment that I'm talking about at [New York] Comic Con in October. Episode 3, we go back even further," he revealed to CBR. "We go back to him in Columbia. So instead of just him going back to having to revisit his past by meeting Carmen, we actually go back to when he was living in that time, in a different language, in a different country."

"So it's going to be very telling of where he is and why he acts the way that he does and just shines a bit of a light on his family situation as well as his professional one that affects exactly why he's so determined to be a good father and a good person and to change his ways from what he once was," he continued. "I think he's more than earned his spurs in recovering from what was actually just sort of a victim of circumstance. He was a kid living in the streets, kicked out because he was a mutant, so he did whatever he could to make ends meet and now he's doing everything he can to make the world right. So we will go back. We go to Columbia! Yeah, it's fun."
