Jonathan Hickman will team with his New Mutants collaborator Rod Reis for Giant-Size X-Men: Fantomex #1. The book stars the titular Fantomex, whose body was used as the host for Charles Xavier's mind in Charles Soule's Astonishing X-Men.

“As Jonathan Hickman and I were talking about characters for this Giant-Size X-Men issue, I said I was looking for crazy and weird characters that would allow me to play with panel layouts and do crazy stuff,” Reis told the AV Club. “So we decided that Fantomex would be the perfect choice. I loved what we did with New Mutants. I had so much fun working with those characters and people can expect this book to be a lot of fun too.”

Created by Grant Morrison and Igor Kordey, Fantomex debuted in 2002's New X-Men #128. He quickly became one of the breakout characters during Morrison's run on the X-Men, going on to co-star in several iterations of X-Force.
