When it comes to the G.I. Joe franchise, this is the third different time of the year that Paramount has released a movie for the famed toyline. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra came out late summer, with a release date of Aug. 7, 2009 . G.I. Joe: Retaliation was a spring release on March 28, 2013.

Now, the third movie will hit theaters seven years later with a pre-Halloween release date. Dwayne Johnson was a newcomer to the second movie. Word in 2016 was that the movie was delayed due to his schedule. That all changed when Paramount decided to make the next G.I. Joe movie about Snake Eyes.

Micronauts was originally going to hit theaters on Oct. 16, so, since G.I. Joe moved into that spot, Micronauts was moved to June 4, 2021, which could be a prime month for the movie at the start of summer vacation.
