The original Snake Eyes, the G.I. Joes' silent ninja, has proven himself to be a hero time and time again. Acting as both stealth operative and ferocious fighter, Snake Eyes has been an indispensable addition to the Joes across countless missions. However, Dawn Moreno, one of the latest people to adopt the title of Snake Eyes, has been pitted with the foulest scum in the world to earn her new mantle.

In 2018's G.I. Joe: Silent Option by Larry Hama and Netho Diaz, Dawn is given a singular, yet exceptional mission: rescue Agent Helix. Helix, one of the most enigmatic and dangerous women in the world, has gone missing and the original G.I. Joe, Joseph Colton, tasked Dawn with finding and rescuing her. With the help of the other Joes, Dawn suits up and begins her mission. What she uncovers isn't a regular Cobra operation, but something far more heinous. Agent Helix has gone missing whilst hunting human sex traffickers, specifically children. The trail of maimed and dead are a testament to Helix's skills and fury over the inhuman treatment of the kidnapped children and each cold body points Dawn and the Joes ever closer to her.

Finally, Dawn tracks Helix to an oil rig in the northern oceans of Scotland. Battles ensue as the Joes fight their way to the top of the platform where they find Helix held prisoner by the leader of the trafficking ring. Just as they believe Helix is to die, she frees herself and joins the Joes with a new mission objective: take the traffickers down. It's in the brief moment of calm that Dawn opens up to Helix and reveals a portion of her past.

Dawn grew up in a neighborhood controlled entirely by Cobra and her early display of physical prowess caught the attention of Cobra Commander. To ensure their control over their victims, Cobra used a device known as the Brainwave Scanner to brainwash the citizens of Dawn's town to maintain their allegiance to Cobra. The problem with this arose when Dawn had the Brainwave Scanner used on her; the villain known as Venom had used the machine in the past on Snake Eyes, and a copy of his mind that was imprinted onto Dawn's.

Since her mission in rescuing Helix, Dawn joined the Joes in a full-scale operation against Cobra to stop their plan from brainwashing fellow Joe Sean Collins into becoming their very own ninja assassin. Being involved with such a massive operation should be proof enough that Dawn Moreno is going to have a very busy and successful career as Snake Eyes.

The Joe's need all the help they can get in their endless battle against the world's evil and there are few that are more helpful than the elite few that carry the name "Snake Eyes."
