Jackson has been voicing Ghostface for nearly two decades, beginning with Wes Craven’s 1996 film Scream. In a previous interview, Jackson confirmed that the studio intentionally keeps him a mystery to the actors in the films in order to make the horror feel real. "I am their biggest fear come to life. It's why they never introduced me to the rest of the cast when filming," said Jackson. "They wanted me to stay away, so the other actors didn't have a visual image to associate with this weird voice they were hearing."

A New Generation of Scream

Scream VI, the latest entry in the iconic slasher franchise, was directed by the Radio Silence team consisting of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are best known for their work on 2019’s dark comedy horror Ready or Not. The sixth installment continued the story of Woodsboro’s latest survivors, two pairs of siblings connected to the characters of the original movie. The film was led by returning cast members Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega as half-sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter, along with Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown as twins Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin., respectively. Following its theatrical release in March, Scream VI garnered a worldwide gross of over $168 million at the box office, making it the third highest-grossing film of the franchise.

After revitalizing the Scream series with their back-to-back slasher sequels, the Radio Silence team has signed on to another classic horror franchise in the form of Universal Pictures’ Monster Universe. Described as a monster thriller, the untitled project will be directed from a screenplay written by Stephen Shields and Guy Busick. It will be a part of the studio’s ongoing efforts in giving a modern update to old-school Monster movies.

The film will also reunite the directing team with Barrera who has signed on for the leading role in Universal’s next Monster project. Before becoming one of the Scream franchise’s newest "final girls," Barrera was first tapped to star in Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights musical, which served as her first high-profile project.

Scream VI is currently available to own on Digital, and is slated for a physical home video release on July 11.
