Ghostbusters Reboot Eyes Stranger Things, Infinity War Stars as Leads

With the start of principal photography on Jason Reitman's eagerly anticipated Ghostbusters revival months away, two actors are reportedly in talks to star in the film.

Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, It: Chapter One) is in talks for a lead role in the film, with Carrie Coon (Avengers: Infinity War, The Leftovers) in talks to portray his character's single mother in the upcoming sequel.

Reports indicate Reitman, who directs and co-writes the film, was initially wary of casting Wolfhard due to the second season of Stranger Things' overt references to the comedy-horror franchise but was impressed by the actor's audition.

While details about the two lead characters roles in the film, including their names, are still being kept under wraps, filming is scheduled to begin sometime this summer. As opposed to a full reboot, the film will take decades after the events of 1989's Ghostbusters II and is expected to include appearances from the classic cast in an undisclosed capacity.

Ghostbusters is directed by Jason Reitman who also co-wrote the film with Gil Kenan (Monster House). It is scheduled for release on July 20, 2020.
