While this year serving as the 35th anniversary of both the original Ghostbusters film and the Transformers franchise, Hasbro and IDW Publishing have announced a new action figure and comic book miniseries celebrating both properties by bringing them together.

The paranormal hunters' iconic ride, the ECTO-1, has been revealed as the latest Autobot, the Ectotron, in a new action figure from Hasbro. The figure is already available for pre-order directly through the popular toy manufacturer as well as GameStop and EB Games Canada for its eventual release this summer.

In addition to the franchise stream-crossing figure, IDW Publishing has announced a five-issue tie-in comic book miniseries providing the origin of Ectotron. The series will be helmed by writer Erik Burnham and artist Dan Schoening, reuniting the creative team behind IDW's Ghostbusters ongoing series. The miniseries is expected to debut sometime this June.

With the worlds of Ghostbusters and Transformers colliding, the normally sci-fi war between Autobots and Decepticons has just taken a sharp turn into the supernatural, with ghosts and other things that go bump in the night joining the fray.
