Original Ghostbusters star Bill Murray has opened up about reprising his role as Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

"The script is good. It’s got lots of emotion in it. It’s got lots of family in it, with through lines that are really interesting. It’s gonna work," Murray told Vanity Fair. "We are a man down. That’s the deal. And that’s the story that we’re telling, that’s the story they’ve written."

While the original Ghostbusters are making a comeback, the plot won't focus on them. Instead, a new generation will take the helm. The film will follow single mom Callie (Carrie Coon) and her two children Trevor and Phoebe, who will be played by Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace, respectively.

Murray confirmed his return to the franchise last September during Afterlife's production in Calgary, Canada. Details about Murray's return and role in the movie are being kept under wraps for now.

Ghostbusters alums Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts will also return as Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, Dana Barrett and Janine Melnitz, respectively. The only original Ghostbuster who will not return is Harold Ramis' Egon Spengler, as Ramis passed away in 2014.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman, who also co-wrote the film with Gil Kenan. Starring Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd and Mckenna Grace, the film arrives in theaters July 10.
