Upon completion of his tricked-out New York Comic Con Ghostbusters cosplay last month, Mythbusters and Tested host Adam Savage shared a behind-the-scenes video of himself and Ghostbusters: Afterlife director Jason Reitman discussing the costume's tech and details.

“I have rarely had such a rewarding experience of building a prop from a franchise and then getting to exalt with people inside that franchise about the objects I built,” Savage giddily proclaimed in the video from his Tested YouTube channel. Reitman was mesmerized by Savage’s lovingly crafted props and was particularly eager to get his hands on the special effect designer's proton pack.

Examining Savage’s proton pack, Reitman concluded that the former Mythbusters’ host had employed a more complex lighting system than that used on the proton packs on the set for Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Among Savage’s collection of props -- ranging from a simple Dan Akroyd-inspired cigarette to a physically smoking ghost trap -- both Reitman and Finn Wolfhard noted that the creator's Ecto Goggles were a massive improvement over the Polaroid ones used on set, which left actor Logan Kim completely in the dark during certain scenes.

For many years, Savage has used incognito cosplay as a method by which he can traverse the floors of NYCC unnoticed. However, despite sporting one of his most electronic-heavy costumes to-date, Savage’s disguise at the latest event proved less successful than prior years as many were able to spot the Mythbuster behind the Ghostbuster on the convention floor. While previous cosplays, such as his 2016 Hellboy, allowed Savage to explore NYCC completely unrecognized, the Tested host was able to connect with fans more directly in his Ghostbusters costume.

While meeting with a group of other Ghostbusters fans and cosplayers, Savage teased that Reitman’s new addition to the franchise is "everything you wanted." The hardcore fan has been building excitement for the film on his Tested channel with other videos, including a tour of the film's farmhouse set and a video of him behind the wheel of the Ecto-1.  The love between Savage and the Ghostbusters: Afterlife crew flowed both ways once the cast got their hands on Savage’s thoughtfully crafted gear.

While Savage already got his chance to explore Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the wait isn’t much longer for fans, as the film makes its theatrical debut on Nov. 19.
