As pre-production on Jason Reitman's eagerly anticipated Ghostbusters sequel continues, the upcoming revival has added a Marvel Cinematic Universe actor to its main cast.
Mckenna Grace, who previously appeared in Captain Marvel as a young Carol Danvers, has been cast in supernatural comedy sequel in a starring role as one of four teenagers that serve as the film's main characters.
Grace joins Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Carrie Coon (Avengers: Infinity War), who were both cast at the beginning of the month. Wolfhard will reportedly portray Grace's older brother while Coon will portray the siblings' hard-working single mother, with all three roles currently unnamed.
This past year, Grace played a younger version of Sabrina Spellman in December's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday special on Netflix. While the official start of principal photography for Ghostbusters has not yet been announced, it is expected to begin filming sometime this summer.
Ghostbusters is directed by Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) who also co-wrote the film with Gil Kenan (Monster House). The film stars Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon and Mckenna Grace and is scheduled for release on July 20, 2020.
