Reitman is directing a script he co-wrote with filmmaker Gil Kenan who directed the 2006 animated film Monster House, which followed a young teenagers investigating a supernaturally possessed house.

At this time, there has been no confirmation if any of the remaining original actorsBill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudsonwill return to reprise their characters in the upcoming film. All three actors along with members of the original cast made cameos as new characters in Paul Feig's 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, but that film supposedly won't be connected tot this film. The new movie will also have to address the absence of Ghostbusters star and co-creator Harold Ramis, who passed away in 2014.
