Ghostbusters 3 Character Breakdowns Introduce the Main Cast

Although Valentine's Day was one of the prophesied days the world could end in Ghostbusters II, the holiday treated fans of the beloved franchise to some potential new details about the young leads for Jason Reitman's upcoming Ghostbusters film.

Following news that filming for the project will begin in May, the untitled film that will carry on the original Ghostbusters cinematic continuity will reportedly follow the modern day adventures of  four young teenagerstwo boys and two girlswho will investigate supernatural events in a small town.

According to HN Entertainment, the character breakdowns are as such:

UNNAMED (LEAD BOY 1): To play 13 years old. A conspiracy theorist who is very into fantasy.

UNNAMED (LEAD GIRL 1): To play 12 years old. A science kid that has trouble connecting with others on an emotional level, has difficulty understanding feelings and is not aware of how hurtful her comments can be at times.

UNNAMED (LEAD BOY 2): To play 12 years old. Slender, pale, dark hair, piercing blue eyes, aquiline features, high cheekbones, withdrawn, He's prodigious-bright, witty, stubborn, and remains playful in spite of hardship. He is also a brilliantly quick thinker under pressure, is at ease with technology, and has a high facility for problem-solving.

UNNAMED (LEAD GIRL 2) : To play 13 years old. Fun-loving, a bit of an airhead. Always curious, haunted, charmed, dazed.

The descriptions also came with a brief synopsis of the film that is specific but doesn't give much detail about the film's plot: A family moves back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.

It's not quite clear how exactly these new characters will tie into the original films, or if these young new Ghostbusters will use the same ghost-capturing equipment that the original team used. However, it's worth noting that the Ecto-1 was prominently featured in the film's first teaser.

Reitman is directing a script he co-wrote with filmmaker Gil Kenan who directed the 2006 animated film Monster House, which followed a young teenagers investigating a supernaturally possessed house.

At this time, there has been no confirmation if any of the remaining original actorsBill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudsonwill return to reprise their characters in the upcoming film. All three actors along with members of the original cast made cameos as new characters in Paul Feig's 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, but that film supposedly won't be connected tot this film. The new movie will also have to address the absence of Ghostbusters star and co-creator Harold Ramis, who passed away in 2014.

Directed and co-written by Jason Reitman with Gil Kenan (Monster House), the upcoming Ghostbusters revival is scheduled to be released on July 20, 2020.
