Ghostbusters 2020 serves as a continuation of the first two films in the horror-comedy franchise and is set decades later as two siblings encounter the legacy of the paranormal investigators. Jason Reitman is the son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original two movies. Although the older Reitman's first two films were massively popular, a third movie spent much time in development hell. A reboot of the franchise released in 2016. However, that movie under-performed at the box-office, and the future of that particular branch of the universe seems grim.

Many stars from the original films are expected to appear in Ghostbusters 2020, including Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver, who played Winston Zeddemore and Dana Barrett respectively. Dan Aykroyd will also reprise his role as Dr. Ray Stantz.

Ghostbusters 2020 is directed by Jason Reitman, who also co-wrote the film with Gil Kenan. The film stars Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd and Mckenna Grace. The film is scheduled for release on July 20, 2020.
