Ghostbusters Adds Paul Rudd, Gets Official Title

Ant-Man's Paul Rudd is joining the cast of director Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters.

Variety reports an official announcement of Rudd's casting will take place at Ghostbusters Fan Fest, presented by Wizard World. Rudd will play a teacher in the film. The site also reveals the movie will now have the official title of Ghostbusters 2020.

“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe,” Reitman said.

Sources for Variety say Ghostbusters 2020's story will focus on a single mother and her family, and will be an "extension" of the original Ghostbusters movie. Carie Coon is reported to be playing the mom, with Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard starring as her son. Sigourney Weaver also confirmed she'll reprise the role of Dana Barrett.

Rudd also appeared in a video on the Ghostbusters Instagram account, recording live in front of the Ghostbusters headquarters.

Ghostbusters 2020 is directed by Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) who also co-wrote the film with Gil Kenan (Monster House). The film stars Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon and Mckenna Grace and is scheduled for release on July 20, 2020.
